To believe is to act Credo Arts Community
10 month Internship from September 2016
(Closing date for applications 6th June 2016)

  • Are you interested in community theatre and youth drama?

  • We are offering a paid internship with Credo Arts Community, a Hull-based amateur Christian theatre company from September 2016 to July 2017.

  • This is a fantastic and unique opportunity to be involved in Hull City of Culture 2017.

The Opportunity of a Lifetime!

Well, that seems a bold claim... but we genuinely think that's true with the chance we are offering for a paid internship with Credo in 2016/2017. After all, being part of the UK's City of Culture certainly won't come around again in our lifetime, and to be able to be part of a number of creative processes – well, we think that's pretty special.

And that's exactly why we are looking for an intern this year, to give someone the opportunity of joining us on this adventure, and helping Credo to play our part as much and as best as we can …. and that “someone” might be you!!

We're looking for somebody with some acting experience, lots of confidence and bags of energy!

There are already some initiatives in which we'd want you to get involved :

  • Amo – Amo – our youth drama group meeting weekly, and drawing an eclectic and fantastic mix of (about 15) young people to take part in devised drama pieces and activities

  • Credo's weekly meetings – on Tuesday evenings, when we spend some time together as a community, plan and plot, and also do some rehearsing and devising

  • Believe in Hull, Communities of Culture – this is the umbrella organisation, co-ordinating the churches' response to 2017, and Credo is very much a valued partner in all of this. There are plans underway for several landmark events, but also opportunities for some community-based drama initiatives that we'd like you (with support) to head up.

As well as all of this, we want to hear from you about your particular areas of interest and we will certainly try to give time, space and opportunity for you to develop these.
And you don't just have to take our word for what a great opportunity this is, I asked some of our previous Gap Year-ers to say a few words:

“My time with credo was great, it taught me a lot about life and working in a community as well as gave me invaluable experience of working within the arts, where I ended up making my career. Thank you credo!”
Nicola (with Credo 1998-99)

“Credo are one big family who took me in and made me feel welcome from day 1. As a young 20 something girl from the Midlands, it was really important that I felt I had people who cared and looked out for me.

The role was so varied which meant I never got time to be bored or complacent. I loved working closely with various schools and it was because of my experience with credo that I decided to train as a drama teacher and now head of SEN and inclusion at a secondary school.”

Sarah (with Credo 2002-3)

Still interested? Well, here's the important information you'll need to know....

We are offering a part-time paid internship:
20 hours a week @ £7.20 per hour
(this will give you enough money to live on as rent and living costs are fairly low in Hull and we will give you temporary accomodation and help finding a place you're comfortable in when you come in September)

The internship will start in September and will run for 10 months until July.
There may be an option to extend this until the end of 2017
